The fog used is completely harmless to people, food and animals and a has a minty smell so that it cannot be mistaken for real smoke! It will stay suspended in the air up to an hour and leaving no residue once the area has been ventilated and the fog dispersed.
To prevent false triggering the system is linked to an intruder alarm which sets the fog into a 'ready' state when activated. Then additional sensors in the room detect movement the system will trigger and fill the room. This eliminates the risk of the fog being deployed because of a false alarm or alarm system fault. Used this way, it should only activate after a confirmed intrusion.
